October “Author of the Month” by Black Women Authors (BWA) FB

Updated: Jul 21, 2023

Being a member of Black Women Author (BWA) has allowed me to meet some amazing authors and build new business relationships with them.

At first when I joined I was curious how this would go. So,I thought I would give the group a test and trial run and stay optimistic. The more I engaged with the group the more I got to learn about them and vice versa-still learning. Supporting other authors does not take away any potential customers from you, it expands you to new potential customers and/or markets. Collectively we can increase our exposure and share our experience of expertise outside of our books(if you are open to it). Being interactive in the group helps to keep you up to date. Balancing your time is work, especially if you are in a different zone and the effort is worth it.

Our first Reader's Vibe was on LaQuita Parks podcast show with some of the BWA members as her guest. In September we had our Reader's Vibe as BWA members to read excerpts from their books. We collaborated with Trivia Payne using her platform to stream live. It was a great experience in both settings with a live audience. Most recently I connected with the Queen of Collaboration Angela Thomas-Smith.

For the month of October 2022, I was selected to be the author of the month. This was unexpected. I thank God for the opportunity. I want to thank Chanelle Wesley for the vision to create the group. Looking forward to enjoying the celebration all month long. My children's book is called "The Reason I Held You Close".The description of my book is “Take a journey through the love parents have for their children as they raise them. The outlook of possibilities and reasons you want to hold them close from the moment you first lay eyes on them in “The Reason I Held You Close”.”

If you don’t have a copy definitely get one, share and remember to leave a review!

Everyone has a story to share that can impact the world in many ways. The seeds being planted as this group grows will have a tremendous harvest in the long run. If you have not checked out the group on Facebook or want to learn more about BWA. I encourage you to join both pages(public and private), participate in the activities, share your book(s),and collaborate with others.
